So many people love The Lion King, myself included. A lot of them consider it their favorite movie. And they often love the songs.

Songs like “Circle of Life” and “Hakuna Matata” are among the most popular Disney songs. I also like every song from the movie, although my opinions differ a bit.

Below are the songs from The Lion King and my ranking of them from least favorite to the most favorite.

5: “Circle of Life”

Despite its popularity, I do not listen to or watch this scene a lot. That is not to say that I don’t like it. I just don’t find it as exciting as the other songs from the film.

I think the reason is because I don’t find it as catchy, heartwarming, or suspenseful as the other musical numbers. To me, it’s more neutral compared to the rest of the songs.

4: “Be Prepared”

This song is not one of the most popular Disney songs. I also don’t watch this scene too much.

That being said, I enjoy its suspenseful tune as Scar plots his evil plan to kill Mufasa and Simba. I also admire its dark, but upbeat, tone.

3: “Hakuna Matata”

Who doesn’t love this song? It is catchy, upbeat, and fun. It also teaches audiences that the phrase means “No worries.”

Timon and Pumbaa also make a funny duo. I love how the lyrics teach Simba how to avoid the past and learn to live a happy life.

2: “Can You Feel the Love Tonight”

This melody is beautiful in every way. It is also one of Disney’s most popular songs, although ranked lower than “Circle of Life” and “Hakuna Matata.”

Its heartwarming melody fits perfectly as Simba and Nala express their romance between each other. Even when Timon and Pumbaa sing parts of it and express their sadness of Simba leaving them, they still nail the tune.

1: “I Just Can’t Wait to be King”

This song has a fast tempo, catchy, fun, and worth snapping your fingers to. I enjoy it so much that I sang along to it for a while. In fact, I suspended myself from watching the clip in public–that’s how much I love it.

However, this song is underrated compared to the other ones, excluding “Be Prepared.” It isn’t considered one of the top Disney songs. But I’m sure that a lot of people love this song, too.

Conclusion

Everyone has different opinions about which songs from The Lion King are the best. There probably is someone else out there who doesn’t consider “Circle of Life” one of their songs, but don’t necessarily dislike it.
