Movies are memorable for various reasons, whether it’s the characters, mood, humor, music, or any other features. They can also be remembered for being crazy.

And that is what this post is all about. Below are the craziest movies for me and why I find them that way.

1: The Cat in the Hat (2003)

Based on the beloved book by Dr. Seuss, an anthropomorphic cat wearing a tall hat visits two children and promises them fun. But the fun leads to chaos.

Although the picture book is great, the movie was bad. And one of the biggest reasons is because it is insane.

There are poor morals, such as doing the opposite of what one says, overly flawed characters, and even hints to swear words. Yes, you read that right. I learned one because of that movie back when I was 10. Then my mom became uncomfortable with me and my brothers watching it.

Other crazy moments include:

  • The Things and how tiring they were to me
  • The idea of everyone driving a car at once

Although I was fine with this movie as a kid, when I rewatched it as an adult in 2021, it wasn’t the same. And it did very poorly amongst both critics and the general public. For example, it has a 10% on Rotten Tomatoes.

2: The Hot Chick (2002)

A popular high school girl ends up with cursed earrings, where her body becomes that of an adult man, and his becomes hers.

The concept itself is very weird – the idea of a girl turning into a man. And if that’s not bizarre enough, she still gets her period while in a male body.

Just like The Cat in the Hat, it didn’t perform very well, although the reviews were a little better. But I still wouldn’t recommend it. It’s just too bizarre.

3: Daddy Day Care (2003)

A day care is run by two dads, but the kids there are out of control.

Some of the craziest moments include:

  • When a little boy burps out bubbles
  • When a guy screams because he accidentally glued a paint brush to his face

Like the previous two movies on this list, it didn’t perform well.

4: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)

This is the 4th film in this series. Indiana Jones is once again on another adventure.

A bunch of insane things occur. One of them is physical violence, like a lot of punching. A notable moment is when Jones encounters a young man at a restaurant and punches him. Then the guy’s girlfriend gets mad and punches Jones. I do admire that way more than if she cried or whined.

But the craziest part is when Jones and some others are on a boat and constantly fall down waterfalls and survive without any injuries. It is so unrealistic.

However, unlike the rest of the films on this list, this one ended up being decent amongst the public.

Conclusion

So, there you have it. But movies do strive for plot and humor if they are comedies. Therefore, realism might matter less.
