Paige Morgan is attending college as a pre-med student. She spends time with her friends discussing her plans for medical school.

Meanwhile, there is a prince in Denmark named Edvard, who wants to live care-free. However, he has responsibilities and strict rules to follow.

At some point, Edvard watches TV. A commercial shows women exposing their chests. And they are from Wisconsin. This prompts Edvard to want to travel to that state.

He talks to his parents about this. But they are resistant, even though he is asking to attend college while in the United States.

Regardless of that, though, the queen, Rosalind, sends Edvard’s majordomo, Soren, to accompany him. But in order to keep his royal status a secret and fit in, Edvard decides to go by Eddie while travelling.

Eddie meets Paige at a bar and develops feelings for her. He even asks her to take off her shirt. Angry, she spurts him with alcohol. Then Eddie is escorted out.

Later, Eddie apologizes to Paige. But they end up as lab partners in their chemistry class, which Paige dislikes. She warns Eddie that he cannot fool around and how serious she is about the project.

Meanwhile. Eddie has uncivilized roommates in his dorm, who influence him a bit. But Paige gives him a hard time about him sleeping through one of their experiments.

Eddie, however, is running out of money. So, he gets a job at the deli section in the same bar Paige works out. She is not happy that he is there. He even makes a customer impatient.

Despite that, though, Paige and Eddie do make amendments. Even though Paige is excelling in science, she is struggling in literature. So, Eddie helps her. She even uses language to secretly acknowledge her feelings for him while reciting a line from a Shakespeare play.

When Thanksgiving comes, Paige invites Eddie to join her and her family since he is from Denmark and not too familiar with American holidays. During Thanksgiving dinner, Paige’s father talks about how he struggles with the family farm. Eddie states that he has mechanical skills that he used to finetune a riding mower for a race.

The scene switches to a bull show. After it’s over, a few guys pick on Eddie, and it leads to a fight. But Paige is able to treat him. Then she kisses him, making it official that she is in love with him.

Back at school, Eddie and Paige are studying for their finals. They also decide to sneak off to the library. There, they kiss, and Eddie removes his shirts—only for a bunch of camera people from the Danish tabloid press to photograph them. They run off.

Eddie reveals to Paige that he is actually a prince. Paige is annoyed that he never told her. She walks away in tears.

Shortly after, Eddie finds out that his father is very sick. So, he needs to go back to Denmark.

Paige also realizes that she loves Eddie. But when she goes to his dorm, his roommate, Scotty, tells her that he already left for Denmark. So, she hops on a plane and goes overseas.

While outside the palace, there is a royal parade. Eddie sees Paige and invites her to join him on his horse.

Queen Rosalind does not approve of Eddie marrying Paige because she is a commoner. However, his father says that if he loves her, he should get to marry her.

Eddie even proposes to Paige. She agrees to marry him. So, she has a lot of duties to follow while engaged to a prince. She even attends a royal ball.

But she also realizes that she is desperate to attend medical school. What decisions will she make?

I will admit that this movie did not engage me as much as I hoped. Although scenes did switch quickly enough, something about this film made it kind of boring. I don’t know what, though. But I did end up losing my attention several times.

Regardless of that flaw, the relationship between Paige and Edvard was nice. I admired how they started out not really liking each other to falling in love.

The character development was also strong. Paige was smart, determined, and had a no-nonsense attitude. Edvard was naïve and just wanted to be normal. He also had a kid sister named Arabella. Although she was a minor character, she was sweet, outgoing, and even enthusiastic.

One aspect of this film that I found a little strange was having a Danish character with a British accent. Edvard was played by English actor Luke Mably. It is not uncommon for characters of other European nationalities to be played by British actors. For example, a lot of movies set in France have English actors.

Anyway, back to the movie. Because the scenes did not lag, the pacing remained fast.

But overall, I thought The Prince and Me was just okay. As a romantic comedy, it wasn’t really that funny. Is it worth watching? My honest answer is maybe.

Even though I found it kind of boring, you might not. Note that even though this film is rated PG, it does have one or two swear words. So, it’s not the best for little kids.

I give this movie 3 out of 5 stars.
