Comedy is a common genre in the film industry. Since it’s often intended to be funny, crazy things constantly occur.

For this list, I include different comedy movie moments that stand out to me. But I use films that I have not reviewed since I already have my opinions on those I reviewed on separate posts.

Below are my top picks:

1: When Tom defined grounded for his kids – Cheaper by the Dozen (2003)

This film focuses on a couple with 12 children between ages 4 and 22. At some point, the school-aged kids get out of hand, including getting into fights at school.

Tom the father gets angry at all of them and then says that they’re grounded. One of them asks what grounded is. And Tom defines the term using this quote: “You go to school. You come home from school. You do your homework, do your chores, go to bed – that’s it!” That also includes not going to their neighbor, Dylan’s, birthday party.

What stands out to me about this scene is how Tom defined “grounded” in a unique way. Usually, parents would define “grounded” as a loss of all privileges (i.e. no video games). Tom did mean that, too. But he explained what his children were allowed to do while grounded.

2: When Wayne sang, “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” to his girlfriend, Cassandra – Wayne’s World (1992)

This movie centers around a young man named Wayne and his show, “Wayne’s World.” During the film, there is an intimacy scene between Wayne and a Chinese woman he fell in love with named Cassandra Wong. While doing her, he puts on a bra and sings, “Happy birthday… Mr. President… Happy birthday… to you.”

My friend said that it might be a reference to something that happened in real life. But it felt random and kind of bizarre to me. That’s why it stands out.

3: When Evan turned into Noah at work – Evan Almighty (2007)

This movie focuses on a man named Evan who moves to Washington D.C. with his family. He is chosen by God to stop a flood that is coming. He also transforms into the biblical figure, Noah, with long white hair, a lengthy white beard, and flowing robes. But Evan doesn’t like that look.

At some point, his job is having a meeting. He tries to “control” Noah’s appearance by tying his hair and beard. However, when he stand up, his beard and hair is loose and he is wearing robes. Then he is escorted out of the room.

I felt bad for Evan during this scene because his involuntary transformation seemed embarrassing. He preferred having short hair and a clean shaven face.

4: When Michael started going ahead in time – Click (2006)

In this film, a guy called Michael gets access to a magical remote that can go through time. For example, he fast-forwards the day to when he and his family are having dinner.

But sometime later, the remote goes crazy. Michael travels a year into the future. He discovers that his kids no longer like Dragon Tales. He also goes 10 years into the future, where he has become obese and his children are now teenagers. More time goes by thanks to the remote.

That stands out to me because unpredictable things happen. Sad moments also occur. But the truth is that the future isn’t always predictable.

5: When Jacques invited his speech therapist to his wedding – The Pink Panther 2 (2009)

This is a sequel to The Pink Panther from 2006, starring Steve Martin as Jacques. In this installment, he is back with a new mission.

During the movie, he gets married and has a wedding. While the notary is initiating the ceremony, Jacques takes a glimpse as his speech therapist in the audience.

I found it funny that he invited her to his wedding. I can’t imagine going to a wedding where the bride or groom invited their speech therapist. That would be something.

Conclusion

So, there you have it. If you are wondering if I’ll review these movies, the answer is likely no. The reason is because the movies either were not the best or did not receive very good reviews. So, I don’t really feel interested in rewatching them.

I hope you understand my reasoning. If you’d like to share anything related to this post, please let me know in the comments.
