Colt Seavers, a stunt devil for movies, is performing a stunt for the famous action star Tom Ryder. But he gets injured and may need to give up on his acting career.

After a year and a half pass, Cole is given the opportunity by Gail Meyer, his film producer, to partake in the upcoming production of a science fiction movie, Metalstorm. He flies to Sydney, Australia for it, especially since his girlfriend, Jody Moreno, is the director. The filming begins.

But he discovers that Jody is still mad at him for breaking up with her. He meets Tom again, who has been too preoccupied with drugs. At some point, he makes Colt use them. That causes him to hallucinate, whether he sees something mild, like a unicorn, or disturbing, like a dead body in an ice bath. He actually sees both.

When he sees the dead body in the tub, he tells the hotel staff. But when the police show up, there is nothing in there.

As the shooting of Metalstorm continues, Colt and Jody reciprocate. But Gail tells him that he has to go back to the US. Yet he doesn’t since he wants to know where Tom is.

But before he can find out for sure where he is, he and Jody get attacked by people who are demanding Tom’s phone.

Things take a turn for the worse…

This is one of those action movies where humor is incorporated into it. A major one was the unicorn that wasn’t there. Colt saw it in a hotel lobby. And when Jody approached him, the “unicorn” just walked out of the way. Then Jody “resumed” going up to Colt.

Another funny scene was when Colt was pulled over by the cops in Australia. They were asking him if he needed to report an ice crime. But Colt “heard” it as “ice cream,” and wouldn’t report that.

The action is kind of between a little bit intense, and highly intense. As Metalstorm is being filmed, there is a lot of reckless driving and fighting needed for the movie. There are also a few moments where Colt wears a special suit that’s completely resistant to burning. That’s right–it was lit on fire and did no damage to the material.

But to be fair, the parts that weren’t very believable did not detract from the story–not even when a woman attacks Colt with a sword after he enters the hotel room. He falls through glass that shatters but receives no cuts at all. I guess that’s a form of movie logic. And in this case, I understand why it had to be like that: it was necessary for the plot but having Colt bleed and have glass pieces stuck inside his skin, would have gone off the path of the story. As strange as it is, this form of movie logic is very common in films.

The characters were also likable. One of them is Gail, who is kind, but can also be difficult. I will be honest–the characters weren’t exactly the most memorable.

However, that doesn’t ruin the story at all. The amount of action and comedy neutralizes that since they dominate the overall approach of the movie.

Overall, I thought The Fall Guy was a pretty good movie. If you like action and comedy combined, then this film might please you.

I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
