Twenty-seven years have passed since the end of the events from the first IT movie, released in 2017. The kids in the losers club are now adults living their own lives.
However, Pennywise is back somewhere. So, the characters reunite to find him.
This movie had some memorable moments. Below are the top ones.
1: None of the main characters had kids
Some of them got married. But even they didn’t start families.
I found that surprising, especially since they are around 40 years old. But this could have been done for plot convenience.
If they had children, their kids would probably be worried about them constantly. And the adults themselves would have worried about their kids. This might mean that the writers would have had to add another subplot. That would have also made the movie longer. It’s already very long at 2 hours and 49 minutes.
Plus, not everyone who gets married has kids. Those characters are some of them.
2: How the young boy’s family did nothingwhen the losers club members yelled curses at him
The members of the losers club reunite at a Chinese restaurant. During that time, worms come out of the fortune cookies, and attack.
Later, a little boy asks them something, and they yell curses at him. Yet his family stands back and does nothing.
Even though this is a movie, I still think the kid’s family should have told the adults to stop and even threatened to call security. I have trouble accepting that they would just let some strangers yell swear words at their son.
3: How the carnival went on, despite how Pennywise killed a child there
Once again, this is something that I have trouble accepting, even if it was meant to move the story along. I know movies aren’t meant to be completely realistic. But here, the lack of believability went a bit too far.
If a child was killed at a carnival, even privately, as soon as someone found their body, they’d scream and tell someone. Then a staff member would announce the child’s death and evacuate everyone, letting only the kid’s family stay.
Conclusion
I will confess that I didn’t really enjoy It: Chapter Two. So, I ended up being more critical of it.
Aside from its lack of believability at times, it scared me a little too much. I only saw it because some friends of mine invited me to. And there were scenes that frightened me enough that I felt my chest tighten a little bit. But I pushed myself to sit through it.
I don’t mind mild horror movies, though. But this one didn’t do it for me.
