As a movie lover, I discover a lot about films—including theories, which is what this post is about. Some theories make sense, and some don’t.
Below are my reactions to some of the movie theories that I came across.
1: Aladdin is set in the future – Aladdin
This theory comes from how the genie announced that he was trapped in a lamp for 10,000 years. When he describes Aladdin’s outfit, he says that it reminds him of the 3rd century.
Some fans have guessed that since the last century the genie saw was the 3rd, Aladdin takes place in the future, where nothing but Arabian culture has survived.
It’s an interesting theory. However, I have trouble believing it. One, the original tale of Aladdin was written in ancient times. Two, Disney suggested that it is set during ancient Arabia by describing Jasmine’s outfit as historically accurate. So, the theory may have been debunked.
2: Tarzan’s parents are also Anna and Elsa’s – Tarzan and Frozen
The theory goes like this: After Anna and Elsa’s parents left Arendelle and their ship sank, they swam to Africa and gave birth to a baby, later named Tarzan.
Although Disney supported it at first, it was later debunked in Frozen 2, when Anna and Elsa discovered the ship that their parents were on. They also learned where their parents were headed to.
I, personally, am not a big fan of this theory. Even other people pointed out how it made no sense. For example, in the picture Tarzan discovered of him and his parents, there would have been two older girls if the theory were true.
3: Everything in Harry Potter was all in Harry’s head – the Harry Potter series
This theory suggests that Harry only imagined his time at Hogwarts just to escape the horrors of the Dursleys. Even J.K. Rowling supports this, although I don’t think she has officially confirmed this theory.
Someone also pointed out in a YouTube comment that the events of the Fantastic Beasts films would not have happened if the theory were true. And I don’t really like this theory, either.
4: Donkey from Shrek was once a human – the Shrek series
This theory suggests that Donkey used to be a human—specifically a boy from Pleasure Island. One of the biggest reasons is because he can talk. Plus, there are other characters from Pinocchio in the Shrek universe.
I do find the theory interesting, and it does make sense since many of the other animals in the Shrek movies don’t speak. However, I’m not sure if it was confirmed by DreamWorks.
5: All Pixar films are connected within the same universe
If you look carefully, there are lots of Easter Eggs of different Pixar characters and elements in different Pixar movies. For example, there is a Nemo toy in Boo’s room in Monster’s Inc.
The creators of Turning Red also confirmed that that movie is set in the same universe as the Toy Story films.
To be honest, I feel quite neutral with this theory. However, I do enjoy seeing the different Easter eggs in both Disney and Pixar films.
6: Sandy died at the beginning of Grease
This theory suggests that the entire film is a coma fantasy from Sandy, after she nearly drowns on the beach. The scene where Danny and Sandy fly their car into the sky hints at her dying and going to Heaven.
The theory is a bit too dark, in my opinion. However, I do find it kind of creative.
7: Peter Pan is the Grim Reaper – Peter Pan
This theory suggests that Peter Pan isn’t just a supernatural and fun character, but also a figure associated with death. More specifically, he represents the death of kids who grow up and lose their childlike innocence. He also refused to grow up, which may have also helped him avoid death. Neverland is meant for children to stay in their childhood forever.
I find this theory kind of dark and even a little bit creepy. However, it does make some sense.
Conclusion
There are many movie theories you can find on the Internet. I just selected the ones of the films that I have seen before.
What do you think of the theories I picked? Let me know in the comments if you’d like.
