A tomboyish girl named Casey Stuart plays football at school. She is the quarterback for the 7th-grade team. Despite enjoying it, she ends up arguing with the same boy at pretty much every practice.

Casey is also not into fashion. She avoids shopping with her old friends. These things occur because she lost her mom a couple of years ago.

Meanwhile, Casey’s dad, Ben, is working at his lawyer’s office. He realizes that he missed Casey’s football practice.

At some point, Casey goes to her local library, where she picks up a book called, “The Book of Awakenings.” It happens to have an incantation that can revive the dead. Casey hopes to bring her mother back with that book. She even leaves $150, which is how much the book costs.

Shortly after, Casey celebrates her birthday. Ben’s coworker, Drew McDonald, comes over. She gives Casey a birthday present, which is an Eve doll. Casey doesn’t like dolls, though.

She puts the doll on a high shelf in her room. Drew comes in right after. But she accidentally causes some things to fall, stressing out Casey. While Casey is organizing her closet, Drew uses a hairbrush to brush the Eve doll’s hair.

Casey does the incantation to bring back her mom. However, the magic ends up bringing the Eve doll to life.

The next day, Casey wakes up to find Eve full-sized and alive. This, of course, startles her. Eve is happy and enthusiastic, although she does struggle to walk a bit.

Casey takes Eve out to find the book that undoes the incantation. But Casey almost gets hit by a truck. And Ben witnesses it. Luckily, Eve stops the truck, and Casey is okay.

The three then go to the mall. Eve is having fun trying on different outfits while with Casey. But Casey does not enjoy being around Eve—especially when her dad seems to be dating her.

Not long after, Ben offers Eve to work at his office. Things only go okay up to a certain point.

Later, Ben’s job hosts a corporate party. Eve not only attends that, but she also sings her theme song on the stage.

When Ben and Eve go home, Casey catches them trying to kiss. This really upsets her.

Eve also begins to experience stress when she sets something on fire while cooking in the kitchen. Casey, however, begins to appreciate Eve.

Unfortunately, though, Eve’s doll sales are declining. This greatly worries her.

This movie engaged me all the way through. It was fast-paced and somewhat funny. Many of the scenes were not too long.

I was also surprised with how Casey had less screentime than I had predicted. She was the main character, after all.

That being said, I adored her relationship with her father. It was very sweet. Ben was kind, affectionate, and patient with Casey.

Casey was also believable for a girl 12 – 13 years old. She would get moody, mad at her dad when he tried to kiss Eve, and stressed when her father and Eve dated. It is true that no parent can be replaced after dying.

I will admit that I didn’t like how Casey was rude to Eve at first, even though she didn’t plan to bring her to life. On the bright side, I’m glad that Casey changed and learned to appreciate Eve.

Eve was a very interesting character. Not only was she bubbly, but she “had” a lot of careers, skills, and talents. I admire how she had all this knowledge when she came to life.

The plot was a little bit easy to follow—more moderately in my opinion. I think the quick scene changing contributed to that. The story was also a bit predictable at times. But twists and turns did occur, both happy and sad ones.

Overall, I enjoyed watching Life-Size. It was fun with likable characters.

I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Please note that this movie is, sadly, not on any main streaming service, like Disney Plus, Amazon Prime, etc. But if you don’t have a DVD player, there is some good news. You can watch this film for free on certain third-party sites. I watched it on fmovies(dot)co. It was the first result after searching for “Watch Life-Size online free.”
