Two 15-year-old twin sisters, Madison and Alex Stewart, are sitting in science class at school. They are daydreaming about a trip to Hawaii with their friends.
They are then called to the principal’s office—except that they are not in trouble. Rather, they are meeting this British woman, Katherine. Katherine informs them that their parents are taking them on vacation.
Alex and Madison meet their parents in a private plane. They find out that they are going to Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. However, they are a little bit bummed about not traveling to Hawaii.
Yet once they get there, they are intrigued by the resort. While on line to check in, a snooty girl named Brianna Wallace cuts in line. Nevertheless, Alex and Madison get their own room. Later, they go jet-skiing together.
When they have dinner, they meet this other family, the Graysons. Madison and Alex want to go to a party afterward. Their parents give them permission to attend it, but they need to be back in their rooms by 11.
The girls have fun at the party, where there is a live band and dancing. Madison falls in love with the Graysons’ teenage son, Griffen.
But once the girls are back in their room, they are in trouble with their parents for breaking the curfew. Their father tells them to respect it for the rest of the vacation.
The next day, the Stewarts have a blast at the waterpark. Alex also meets this cute boy, Jordan, who happens to work at the resort. One of his responsibilities is to feed the stingrays. He even offers Alex to do so, although she is a little hesitant at first. But she gets past it.
Meanwhile, Briana Wallace also has feelings for Jordan. Jordan’s boss constantly asks him to assist her, even against his will.
More fun happens. At some point, Madison, Alex, Griffen, and Jordan are swimming in a pool at night. Brianna wants to make their stay miserable. So, she complains to security about their noise levels. A security guard then yells at them to get out of the pool.
He makes them wait in the security office until their parents come. And their parents are unhappy.
The next day, Alex and Madison wake up to see that it’s almost 11 A.M. They find it peculiar that their parents didn’t give them a wake-up call earlier.
Then they discover that their parents went jet-skiing. They also are given permission to have more time for themselves during the trip.
So, the girls spend a lot of time with their new boyfriends. They even swim with dolphins together.
Some time later, the four go in a yacht together. They walk around it and admire it.
Unfortunately, they all get arrested since Jordan gets blamed for stealing some antiques. But the girls think he didn’t mean to.
What will happen next?
This movie kept my interest a lot. One of the reasons is because I’ve actually been to Atlantis Resort before. So, it was fun trying to see what I could recognize.
The activities the characters did were fun to watch, whether they were going down waterslides, jet-skiing, or swimming with dolphins.
Not only were the teenagers in love, but also Griffen’s younger sister, Keegan. Well, not exactly. There was a boy around her age who liked her, but she would do “bad” things back to him. For example, she buried him in the sand while on the beach.
The characters were memorable and well-developed. I adored the twin girls’ relationships with the boys they met. That was sweet. In fact, there was a lot of romance in this movie.
I also enjoyed disliking Brianna Wallace. I found it cruel when she tried to get the Stewarts and Graysons in trouble just for swimming at night.
One detail I noticed was that there wasn’t a whole lot of tension throughout this movie. Maybe it was because the whole point of it was for the characters to enjoy their vacation.
Although I feel that lower levels of conflict were necessary, they did make the film a little less engaging at times. I would even check to see how much time remained.
Which brings me to my next point—this movie is only available to stream on Apple TV. Since I don’t have that, I watched it online for free at 123movies(dot)com.
Anyway, regardless of the lower tension levels, the conflict did increase later in the movie. There were also a good number of twists and turns.
Overall, I enjoyed Holiday in the Sun. It was a good movie that can be relatable and exciting.
I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
