If you look at the reviews on this blog, you will notice a variety of opinions. Many are positive. Some are negative. And some fall somewhere in between.

Below are the ratings I give and what each one means:

5 stars – Absolutely phenomenal – I enjoyed this movie so much to the max!

4.5 stars – Great watch – I really liked it, even with a few minor issues that kept me from giving it 5 stars.

4 stars – It was good – I liked it enough, although there are still some flaws.

3.5 stars – It was decent – Not bad, but there are close to as many drawbacks as there are strengths.

3 stars – Just okay – the film was tolerable, but half of the content displeased me.

2.5 stars – Meh! – It wasn’t that good. But there were still a few perks.

2 stars – Not good at all – this movie failed to please me one bit.

But it stops there! I never go below 2 stars, unlike other film reviewers or critics – regardless of whether they’re professionals or amateurs. That means I don’t ever rate movies 1 star, as stated in the post’s headline.

And here is why. Something has to be EXCEPTIONALLY terrible for me to give it 1 star. That’s extremely difficult for me to feel that way about movies.

Even for other things, like public places, I have only rated something 1 star once. So, the exceptionally terrible experience applies to everything in order for me to give it 1 star.

So, if I watch a film, but stop after minutes because I am unable to enjoy it, it’s still not bad enough for 1 star. And that excludes movies that are too violent, scary, gross, or kiddie.

If I watch something that is absolutely unbearable and horrible enough for 1 star, I’ll probably stop it or leave seconds after it begins. So, there would be no point in reviewing them on this blog – not even if I read the plot summary on Wikipedia.

After the narration, the opinion part would just say that it was terrible and that I wouldn’t recommend it under any circumstances – and possibly why it was that bad. But it still wouldn’t be enough for a movie review on a blog.

So, there you have it. I might not make up a high percentage of people who review films if I don’t rate anything 1 star. But I am proud to be that unique.
