Release 4 years after the first Toy Story film, the story focuses on how the toys deal with the greedy toy collector named Al after Andy left for sleepaway camp.

At a garage sale, Al steals Woody, regardless of how many times Andy’s mother said he was not for sale.

Woody meets some other toys in Al’s place who convince him to get displayed in a museum. But Woody resists, since he knows he still belongs to Andy.

Below are the biggest moments from this movie that stood out to me.

1: How Al didn’t get arrested for stealing Woody

Stealing from anywhere is a crime, including a casual garage sale on someone’s front yard. In addition, failing to report a crime is also illegal. So, Andy’s mom would have been arrested for not reporting Al’s theft.

But it is a cartoon. Plus Andy’s mom being locked up would have drastically altered the plot – and probably not in the good way.

2: That Zurg is Buzz’s father

Yet he’s evil and wants to kill Buzz – not a fatherly type. But at least he’s a toy and not a live person.

3: The song, “When She Loved Me”

This is sung when Jessie talks about her previous owner, Emily, who abandoned her after she grew up. The song is very beautiful and heartwarming, but also heartbreaking.

Because kids change as they grow, Jesse was worried that Andy would end up the same way with her or Woody.

4: The dream Woody had about Andy disposing him

Early in the movie, Woody accidentally breaks a bit, but can still function. However, he has a nightmare where Andy comes home early from sleepaway camp and almost plays with him… until he realizes that he is broken. So, he throws him in the trash.

Even though that was just a dream, it made sense for Woody to fear that scenario.

5: When Woody’s arm came off

This is another time a part of him physically breaks. It make things more difficult for him, especially when he’s with Al.

Conclusion

I did enjoy Toy Story 2 very much. I would give it 5 stars and gladly recommend it.
