Seven-year-old identical twins, Kelly and Lynn Farmer, are participating in a Halloween party hosted by their neighborhood friend’s mom. And they are having a fantastic time.

Then it’s time for the crown jewel of the event: Oscar the clown. He plays a game with the kids and offers a wand as the prize. Lynn and Kelly are the winners, but they have to share the wand.

Sometime later, their parents pick them up. But they do need to make a quick stop at their Great-Aunt Agatha’s house.

However, the parents make Kelly and Lynn wait in the car. The time their mom and dad have with Agatha does not go well.

Despite what their mother and father told them, Lynn and Kelly meet this guy who is digging a grave in the cemetery nearby. He tells them that Agatha had a twin sister named Sophia. Unfortunately, Agatha hated having a twin.

There was this enchanted stone that Agatha believed could make her and Sophia look drastically different from each other. However, Agatha ended up deciding to make Sophia’s life super miserable.

Years later, when Agatha and Sophia are adults, Sophia is engaged to this man, George. Despite how much time has passed since they were children, Agatha still decides to banish Sophia and George into a mirror due to her intense envy.

At home, Kelly and Lynn learn that their parents’ financial situation is not very good. They feel that the money issue would be better with Sophia around because they think she’d be able to help.

So, they decide to sneak out to their Great-Aunt Agatha’s mansion to free Sophia from that mirror. But they’ll only have till midnight after Halloween. Otherwise, the curse is permanent.

The girls swap their costumes with some neighborhood kids before starting their mission.

Along the way, they meet this man working below the bridge. He is concerned about them wandering the streets unsupervised.

Nevertheless, he agrees to help them achieve their goal. He lets the girls call him Mr. N since his last name is too hard for them to say.

The 3 end up stopping at a small house – which belongs to none other than Oscar the clown – except without his clown outfit. Oscar is embarrassed to be seen without his clown costume because he is so short. Yet he still helps the girls and joins them and Mr. N.

Everyone arrives at Agatha’s gathering in costumes that make them look like paranormal figures that were actually invited. However, they only get away with the disguises for a bit.

Agatha finds out that the Farmer twins are there and tries to capture them. Luckily, they escape with Mr. N and Oscar.

But they do realize that splitting up is absolutely necessary. However, crazy things happen from there.

Can the twins still save their aunt, Sophia, before midnight?

Although this movie was sometimes confusing, its fast pacing kept me engaged all the way through. It had a lot of suspense, tension, and twists and turns.

Kelly and Lynn were quite mature and likable, despite only being 7 years old. They had sweet relationships with their parents and even their dog.

Because this movie is set during Halloween. There are a lot of paranormal moments. They include vampires and lots of witches and witchcraft.

There are also some mildly scary moments, which may be a concern for you if you have young children. But if you have kids who can handle Harry Potter, then this shouldn’t be an issue.

Overall, I enjoyed Double, Double Toil and Trouble. It particularly makes a good watch for Halloween – and even anytime of the year.
