The film begins with a wicked goddess named Eris trying to bring her evil plan to life. So far, she seems successful.

The scene then switches to a ship led by the sailor, Sinbad. He and his pirate pals plan to steal this special, supernatural Book of Peace. But it is all the way in Syracuse, Sicily.

Not only that, but Sinbad is also surprised to see the book being protected by his childhood friend,  Prince Proteus of Syracuse. Proteus reminds him of how valuable their friendship was, and still should be.

Nevertheless, Sinbad continues to steal the book – only for a kraken-like monster called Cetus to attack everyone on the ship. Luckily, both Sinbad and Proteus fight and defeat Cetus. However, without warning Sinbad, ends up being dragged into the water.

But Eris saves him and makes a deal with him. If he can give her the Book of Peace, she will give him whatever he wants. Sinbad seems unsure, though.

What is going to happen next?

If you are wondering why I stopped the narration there, it is because I was unable to finish the film past that point. Yes, this film was, unfortunately, nowhere near as engaging as I thought it would be.

That shocked me because this is a cartoon. And the trailer made it look exciting and even funny.

Sadly, this movie bored me a lot – even with lots of conflict and tension. I don’t know why it was like that. But I do know that this film did pretty poorly amongst the general public as well.

Well… the reviews were actually more mixed. But this film does have a 44% on Rotten Tomatoes. That’s pretty much the equivalent to 2 out of 5 stars.

And that is what exactly what I would give this movie: 2 out of 5 stars. That is very unusual for me to give an animated movie that low of a rating.

Luckily, there are other 2D-animated movies by DreamWorks that were more enjoyable. I would recommend checking those out instead.
